Once you find a reason to dislike someone, you find fault in every thing they do.
When I thought about some people I dislike, the silly cartoon had a little message that contains the truth in most of us.
Gossip is like cancer, once it develops, it never ceases to spread and destroy other cells.
Once a person is consumed with contempt for another person, they spread their hatred to the people in their life circle.
The spread of hatred, gossip, suspicion
(a) The hater is with (b) someone in their circle and sees the hated person.
The hater points at the hated person and tells why that person is so despicable
At that moment (b) the person in their circle forms instant hate for the target.
At a later time (b) is with some in their circle (c), (d), (e).. and they become a part of that cancer... Most of the time the target is unaware of any charges made against them... but when it finally leaks out they find they are victims of malicious gossip.
All gossip is not false, but regardless if it is or not, there is no defense against a growing cancer that only whispers behind your `back.
It is no different than a lynch mob, someone being hung with out a chance to defend themselves or even know what they are being hung for.
Hateful hearsay is so damaging because those who hear it, instantly believe it.. just the vibration of some one's lips can spread the cancer of hate instantly. It can drive people to cause great mental harm or physical harm to a total stranger.
When someone hears some vile gossip about another, they spread it with great zeal, but if/when they find out it is false, they do not take steps to find those they have spread the lies to and `correct it.
Those who have persecuted an innocent victim.. their only act will be to sweep it under the rug.

Verbal defamation = slander
If the thing being stated is true, it is neither liable or slander.
In court the burden of proof is on the shoulders of those spreading the malicious gossip.

If you believe that you have the facts, then you and all of those who have joined in their persecution are the good guys. You should expose the accused for what they are and warn society.
Before you jump on the band wagon with the lynch mob, you might have a hearing for the charged.
Those of you who have been infected with the hatred through hearsay/gossip. You only parrot hearsay.. but here is what you can contribute to the investigation.
What ever you heard is not important.. your part is to `back track
Who did you hear it from, who did they hear it from...
#1 Document all of those who are repeating the gossip and who they heard it from.
#2 When you find those who claim to have witnessed the vile deed
a) Have them put it in writing .. what they are accusing the target of doing
b) Exactly what they witnessed the target doing.
c) Track down all who claim to have witnessed some vile deed.
If you only have back stabbers who only have the gull to gossip behind some one's back... know the worth of the source.
Remember it is not slander if it can be proven. If you believe then you would not fear putting your charges in writing . Exposing the guilty... would be doing the community a favor.
I will be glad to set up a public form on the internet where they can present their charges, identify themselves and in turn I will give a chance to address all of their assertions.
If the accusers squirm, if they refuse to respond in public, if after you have heard both sides, you find you have been persecuting an innocent victim, then I would ask you to turn your wrath/hatred to the source of the vicious gossip.
If that target is proven guilty as charged, you have done a great service to the community.
If the source of your gossip has their words recorded and are taken to court for slander/liable .. and are ordered to pay thousands by the court, then you have helped clean the community up from a bully.
YES gossipers are bullies. They cause others great mental stress. They cause people to committee suicide.. they cause people to go on a rampage and murder...
Gossipers cause people to lose their jobs, to be physically assaulted.
Those who start the cancer with innuendos and those who repeat gossip are engaged in hatred.
Those persecuted physically or mentally are the victims of gossiping bullies are not given a chance to defend themselves.
You know what I drive, you know where I shop.. start your investigation, track down the sources of the charges which stem your hatred. Bring the original accuser face to face with the accused.
Lynch mob, Bullies, backbiters ? or those who want to get to the truth based on a trial with both sides presenting their case. Which are you.
I do not suggest anyone believe me, but if you will decide who to believe from both sides.
1 Back track those who spread the gossip.. have them put their accusation in writing I will pay to have it notarized.
2 When you get to the source of those who claimed to witness me in a wrong act,
Ask them if they will put (a) their accusation of wrong doing (b) in writing.
If you have repeated the gossip then you believe it to be true. How much will you believe the source of your gossip if they refuse to argue their case in a public area where the accused has a chance to hear and respond?
MY CHALLENGE TO YOU WHO BELIEVE AND HAVE BEEN SPREADING GOSSIP BEHIND MY BACK:
Meet with others who are in your lynch mob and ask them when you set up a public place to confront the accused face to face.. one or many of you, in a public place with cameras rolling, let's get the ball rolling.
